Günther Öttinger | English as the working language?

"Englisch wird die Arbeitssprache" (English will become the working language), declared Günther Öttinger a while back. Now appointed EU Commissioner for Energy (2009-2014), it appears somehow to be a challenge for him to put it into practice.

:o) This reminds me of a character in "Fawlty Towers", Manuel (ever seen it?)- I started trying to understand this guy and I went: "QUÉ?!!"

I've seen Fawlty Towers a couple of times and remember Manuel a little bit and it is indeed the type of reaction would definitely be "qué?!' :)) When I heard of this guy the other day on the radio while in my car, I couldn't help laughing out loud at first and thought it was a joke, then later on I realised this is "serious business" :))

This is actually very funny! It reminds me of a Brazilian soccer coach that was recently working in South Africa... His name is Joel Santana and you can see a sample of his English in this video:

Thanks for your comments on my blog. I've just looked at the video of this coach and it's hilarious. I think I'll publish that one too because it's so funny! :))
